WEEKEND WORKSHOP AGENDA

Weekend Workshops will follow this format:

  • 1 week prior:
    • Homework: independent competitive and industry, audience research on the topic
    • collaborative gathering of independent research into a shared presentation
  • Friday:
    • Evening by phone:
      • group introductions
      • review shared research
      • discuss and agree upon target audience and core problem to be solved
      • Homework: independent ideation through 3-5+ sketches of ideas for new approaches
  • Saturday in person:
    • Morning:
      • Share individual ideation
      • Discuss and decide direction
      • Define target audience and problem being solved
      • Iterate on ideation though sketches to come to a shared vision of direction
    • Afternoon:
      • Conduct supplemental competitive and user research as needed
      • Map out user and system flows as relevant for the concept
      • Define key features, priorities, needs and goals
      • Sketch, design and create physical and/or digital prototypes
      • Conduct user tests of prototype
      • Iterate and refine 2-3x
      • Document iterations and changes with video, photos and notes
    • Homework:
      • Refine direction with more sophisticated artefacts
      • Assign responsibilities for Sunday
  • Sunday in person:
    • Morning & Afternoon:
      • create high-res rendering, prototype or mockup
      • Map out a delivery plan of components, features and approaches, as relevant
      • create a service design blueprint, Customer Journey and/or other systems framework, showing the solution in context
      • refine and deliver final presentation and final assets

TOPICS 

Each course or workshop focuses on just ONE macro topic and creates one group project. Students will ideate and determine the final project direction before the first class, after reading and learning about the topic. Check the registration dates for upcoming classes by topic!
